With the software, you cannot (?) use the external (audio or instrument) plugins. They are being recorded early by a few ms or so. But I'm trying to figure out how to get these software synth tracks lined up, too. We got external hardware working with an analogue clock coming from a SW-SYNC plugin and working lined up fine from the OP's suggestions.
